Wild: round-trip drift

Take an English sentence, translate it to another language, then translate the result straight back with the reverse Marian model. If the meaning survived the trip, you come home close to where you started; if it drifted, you can see exactly where. Two small models, out and back — a fidelity check you can watch.

Idioms and wordplay drift fastest — they lean on meanings that don't survive a literal hop. Plain, concrete sentences round-trip cleanly. A round-trip that comes back different doesn't prove the forward translation is wrong, but it's exactly where a human reviewer should look first.
